[SUGGESTIONS] This is what I think about ICSI Website through student point of view

I just came to know about this discussion board while browsing this website. I had talk with Mr.President yesterday in student interaction program thus I would like to suggest something regarding this website respecting his appeal.

1) Adding it in Main Menu -

The forum is hidden under the Home option. Can we bring Forum menu directly in the main menu list. On that Dark Blue Header Tab (Home, Students, Members, Companies) And Forum or Discussion Board.

2) Classifying Sections -

There are currently only two sections. General and Test. Can we add more sections with Program wise and subject wise classification. Like this

Students (This will be Main Section)

  1. Foundation (Sub Section)
  • Subject 1
  • Subject 2
  • Subject 3
  • Subject 4

Etc Etc Etc for every stage.

And in General Section There should be sub sections to discuss about latest amendments and activities regarding our profession.

Forum should be accessible to every member and student so there will be expert opinions on students queries. It will not only enhance student's knowledge but it will also help for enhancing networking among students and members.

3) Informing Students/Members -

Students are unaware of this forum, as I can there is literally no involvement right now as compared with students number. Can we inform students via social networks, even a little badge (cum advt) on homepage of this website. Or sending sms or email to them.

4) User Friendly Software - (This is technical suggestion) -

Using user friendly forum software script such as Mybb (which is user friendly and free) with decent corporate theme. Have a look on this (Demo). Will definitely help user to navigate across the forum.

5) Authorizing Members and Students -

I am a blogger and have built some websites but here what I can do is only suggest. Appointing interested members and students as forum moderators will be automated machinery for forum maintenance. There are members and students who would like to work voluntarily for the forum.

 6) Announcements Regarding Profession -

There are many sources for staying up to date with the corporate news but posting announcements on forum will increase member/student involvement  here. Students/Members can discuss about particular amendment, raise queries answer other queries will be possible through this initiative.

Right now announcements are posted on homepage but there is only one way traffic but in this case there will be two way traffic. And the announcements are now in PDF so also posting those in normal text format on forum will be easy to read and discuss.

7) Why to Do This?

Yes, there are many privately held discussion boards/forums on the internet but there is a question about authenticity of the information received there. Since this official forum is restricted only to members and students the information will not get outsider's manipulation.

8) Log in -

Currently ICSI system asks 17 digits registration id to log in ICSI website for student (not have any idea about member's login).  The number is not only difficult to remember but it is noted number is not available to everyone every time while logging in. My suggestion is

Allowing any of the following input to grant log in for student, A student should get access to his account through any of the following inputs.

  1. Username (Right now there is only 17 digits number which is called as username, student can not change username it to it's own name)
  2. Email - Allowing log in with email
  3. Mobile Number - Allowing log in with mobile number

9) Student Log in Link on Homepage -

Currently the student is suppose to click on Online Services on homepage and then he get is able to find option for Student Login. New student will not be able, especially from rural area to find this hidden menu. I will suggest adding Student Login link on ICSI website homepage with noticeable font size and color.

That's it.  Based on my experience with Hon. President (Mr. Atul Mehta), I am sure he will look in this matter.

Regards

Yashodhan
